From the world of microscopic animals to the universe, that range describes the films of this year’s Nature Film Festival. Who would think that a popular resort like Lake Balaton offers hundreds of secrets in its natural surroundings that would go unnoticed without the camera of a filmmaker. Modern technology makes it possible to turn the intimate moments of freshwater microorganisms into pictures. We can watch the guards of nature in action, protecting birds, waters, large carnivores and forests during their everyday work. We can witness how a young filmmaker campaigns against the illegal dumping of waste with the help of the internet. Compared to previous years, there is a shift in numbers from nature films towards pieces on country life and traditions, marking the growing appreciations for local values in the 21st century.
